The Last of the Moon Girls

This book was rough to get through. I only finished it because I’m making myself read everything I purchased on my Kindle. I was expecting more magical elements. The main character, Lizzy, is supposed to be able to smell things about people and have a deep understanding of scents, but it rarely comes up. When it does, it feels flippant and not really part of who she is, which makes the ending feel weird and disconnected.

The mystery aspect was poorly executed. I knew who the murderers were the second the character was introduced. Andrew was an annoying, pushy presence who constantly guilted Lizzy, which made me not want to root for them as a couple. Lizzy herself had almost no internal conflict, and her character arc felt rushed and nonsensical.

Overall, the characters were half-baked, the plot was boring, and the story just didn’t work.
