The Secret Lives of Church Ladies

This book of short stories was amazing. I finished it quickly and couldn’t get enough. Each story follows Black women across generations and explores their relationships with faith.

Every story felt beautiful and impactful, but my personal favorites were Peach Cobbler, Jael, and When Eddie Levert Comes. Each one carried its own weight and perspective while still tying into the larger themes of the collection.

As a whole, the book does an incredible job of exploring faith, love, desire, and connection. I truly loved reading it.
